We have several steps to help you prepare for completing your registration form.

NOTE: IN MARCH AND APRIL STUDENTS WILL MEET WITH THEIR COUNSELOR TO REVIEW THEIR CHOICES. MORE INFORMATION ON HOW AND WHEN TO DO THIS WILL BE EMAILED TO STUDENTS AND GUARDIANS.

4-Year College Applications video LINK: Applying to colleges can be overwhelming and stressful, but this session will help ease the pressure for you. Learn about starting the application process, how to write a solid admissions essay, and how to make a decision once you receive an admissions letter. Apprenticeships - Earn While You Learn LINK: Apprenticeships is a post-high school career pathway that includes a paid-work component and an educational or instructional component, where an individual can obtain workplace-relevant knowledge and skills. Community and Technical Colleges video LINK: Whatever you're interested in doing — whether transferring to a university, training for a career or getting the basics — Washington state community and technical colleges have classes, programs and majors for you. Financial Aid video LINK Financial Aid is money to help pay for college or technical school. Find out how to start applying for Financial Aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and what you need to know about Financial Aid before attending post-secondary schools.

International Baccalaureate (I.B.) LINK: For juniors and seniors who want to increase the rigor of their classes in preparation for their post-secondary education. Flyer here. New Market Skills Center (Video ): Provides Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses for students who are interested in preparation for entering colleges, apprenticeships, and/or employment after high school. Students split their school day between Capital High School and New Market Skills Center. New Market offers 14 different programs for juniors or seniors who would like this experience during the school year, or for any student looking for a meaningful summer opportunity. Running Start (Video): Running Start allows students to take college courses while enrolled in high school. Credit earned at the college will transfer back to the high school and can count toward graduation requirements. This option is for juniors and seniors only. A placement test or alternative is required. When signing up for running start courses you are understanding that you will be treated like an adult learner and you are taking charge of your own academic responsibilities. Your parents will not have access to your grades UNLESS you, as the student, sign the FERPA waiver. For the running start steps click here.

These are other documents you might need after you register:

Course Placement Refusal Form: This form is only for students who would like to override a teacher/course recommendation for their next year's course.
IB waiver: This form is used only if you are a full IB diploma candidate and plan to waive your PE, CTE, or High School and Beyond Plan requirements.
Middle School Transcript Opt Out Form (Class of 2024 and beyond): This removes your middle school credits from your high school transcript. This is permanent.
PE waiver: This form is used to waive the second year of PE. This needs to be turned in AFTER you have successfully completed at least 150 hours or two seasons of a sport. This is due at the end of your 11th grade year!
