IB Dipoloma Pathways at Capital 2018-19

New Additions:

  1. A candidate (diploma or course) can test SL or HL in every subject
    except Psychology or Math Studies (Discrete) which are only SL.
  2. 2. Environmental Systems and Societies is being added to the IB curriculum
    beginning this year as well as IB Language and Literature.
  3. 3. Theory of Knowledge is open to all students, and it is offered both
    during Zero Hour and during the school day.
  4. 4. It should be noted that the Core 24 Requirement is waived for all
    IB diploma candidates. ​​

  • besides testing in HL Chem and HL Math the candidate must also choose an additional HL subject from English, History, one of the Arts or Business Management. The candidate may choose to test in 4 HL subjects, but must test in a minimum of 2 SL subjects.
  • also, whether SL or HL, for English, Chemistry and World Language, a candidate should only test in their senior year unless given departmental approval. It is recommended due to the IA that all candidates take HotA though they can still test SL in History.

Reminder to achieve the diploma a candidate must:

 

  • Test in all 6 subject areas, testing in either 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level classes or 4 HL and 2 SL.
  • Achieve a total score of 24 points with at least 12 HL and 9 SL points; if 4 HL then top 3 HL scores and only 5 points necessary in SL.
  • Complete and pass both the Theory of Knowledge class and the Extended Essay.
  • Complete the Creativity, Activity, Service requirement.
  • Test in all 6 subject areas (a substitution can be made for the Arts), testing in either 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level classes or 4 HL and 2 SL.
  • Achieve a total score of 24 points with at least 12 HL and 9 SL points; if 4 HL then top 3 HL scores and only 5 points necessary in SL.
