DECA Club
Our DECA season has begun and we are so excited to have many opportunities and events coming up that students can participate in. One of our events we already had was on September 16th. Washington DECA hosted a Pro Sports Career Day at CenturyLink Field, where our DECA students had the privilege to go to a Sounders game and learn the business behind the scenes of a game day. They had the honor of holding the Sounders flag on the field during the National Anthem and speaking with the Sounders staff.
As one of our first event of the competitive DECA season, we will be taking 36 students to Fall Leadership Conference in Bellevue. This is much like our state competition with students from all around the state who come to learn and grow in order to prepare for their events that they will start competing in January. Out of our thirty-six students attending, eight of them were awarded scholarships. Our students will have 3 days in Bellevue to hear from exceptional leadership figures in our community as well as practice competitive events.
Health Room News
If your child will be taking medication when school begins next fall, a new Authorization for Administration of Medication at School form is required. The new authorization form must be completed and signed by both you and your child’s health care provider, and brought to school with the prescribed medication. By law, no medication may be administered without a current, completed, and signed authorization form.
In case of an emergency situation when students must remain for an extended period of time, you will need to provide the school with a three (3) day supply of medications and indicate on the authorization form the procedure for administering the medication over a 24-hour period.

News from the CHS Library – Chromebooks – We love ‘em!!!
“With freedom comes responsibility…” Eleanor Roosevelt
Classrooms have established their routines and so have most students. If a student forgets to charge their Chromebook, chargers are available for student use at the middle tables in the library. If a student needs the library to charge theirs during a class or if they need to borrow a Chromebook because they forgot theirs at home, the library will help. On the 3rd request for help, the student will be calling home to work on a plan to get their routine. Please help your student with establishing this new routine for their school success.
A THANK YOU to the OSD Education Foundation for funding a grant for our library program to support Battle of the Books and the Cavalcade of Authors West writing workshop. Students are learning about and signing up for these extra-curricular events now. If you have a student with a gift for writing stories or a passion for reading them, encourage that student to be involved with these programs. They can ask for more info in the library.
