We’ll be going over important graduation dates and required forms — everything you need to cross the finish line!

  • Important: There will NOT be a handout this time, so you need to be there to get all the info.

 

CHS Multicultural Dinner and Celebration - May 19th

We hope to see you for our free Family Dinner May 19th at 5:30pm in our Commons. Following dinner from local restaurants, we will be moving to the PAC to enjoy our Multicultural performances. See you there! 

 

Senior Graduation Cords

Graduation cords will be on sale in the ASB office for $7 starting May 26th.

  • Gold: 4.000 - 3.500
  • Blue: IB Diploma Candidate
  • Silver: IB Course Candidate

 

CHS Athletic Department News

Register for Summer Workouts/Open Gyms

Once in Final Forms you will need to choose Summer 2026-27 and select the sport.

Please follow ALL of the steps to ensure your student is registered correctly.

Go to:  www.finalforms.com

  • Login into your account or create a new account.
  • Provide all the required information.  Both you and your student must sign the online forms.
  • Upload a valid sports physical.  A sports physical is valid for 13 months from the date of examination.
  • There is no payment for ASB or open gym/workouts.
  • Once your student's registration has been reviewed, you will receive an email indicating they are cleared for Spring Sports.

Please keep in mind this is for SUMMER only.  You will need to register your student for Fall Sports, starting August 1.


Mark your calendar for the FREE SPORTS PHYSICAL EVENT on June 6.

 

Marshall Middle School Multilingual Family Night - May 14th

Please join us for a summer resource fair and game night for our multilingual families on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 5:30-7:30pm in the Thurgood Marshall Middle School cafeteria. There will be information on summer community programs, games, prizes, and more! Refreshments will be provided.

 

Battle of the Books - correction to last week’s information

Congratulations to both of Capital's Battle of the Books teams!  Team Scientia Liborum, including Chloe Wolkensdorfer and Flora Oliver, brought the trophy back to CHS after winning 1st place by beating eight other teams from various Thurston County high schools on Monday night at River Ridge High School.  The Bibliomaniacs captured 3rd place. Teammates Noelle Menser and Violet Magnuson finished their Battle of the Books career, having played every year since elementary school.  Special thanks to the Olympia Education Foundation for their continued generous support of the Battle of the Books program in all Olympia School District schools!

 

CHS Link Crew

If you are interested in Link Crew for the 26/27 school year and helping with the 8th grade tours on May 27th, make sure you sign up on the google form! You also must purchase a t-shirt by this Friday, May 1st. All Link Leaders must have the gold shirt. You need to put your size on the google form and pay the $15 at the ASB office. Free and reduced lunch students must put your size on the google form and go to the ASB to get in the system with Mrs. Grods.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month — a time to pause, reflect, and recommit to caring for our emotional and psychological well-being. In 2026, the conversation continues to grow louder and more compassionate, reminding us that mental health is just as important as physical health.

CHS Booster Club Auction

The Capital High School Booster Club is excited to announce our HUGE online Auction from April 30th to May 10th at 5 pm.  The CHS Booster Club supports all Capital sports teams, performing arts programs, and the debate team through fundraising efforts.  Not only will we be offering specialty baskets donated by CHS sports teams and performing arts groups, we will also have a variety of other exciting experiences and unique items for bidding: 

  • Graduation Ceremony tickets
  • Professional personal color evaluation
  • Estate Planning gift certificate
  • Full page senior yearbook add for 2027
  • 2-night stay in a private cabin in Packwood
  • Class in building your own Live Plant Terrarium
  • Be Principal for a Day
  • Year of FREE Botox
  • Year of Parking next to CHS baseball fields

One special basket from the Theater Program will include tickets to the final night of the spring musical performance of Frozen, a VIP tour, Frozen the Musical Poster, and other Frozen swag – this basket auction will end on May 4th!


And the highlight of this year’s auction is the unique opportunity to bid on mini-internships for a high school student.  These one-day shadowing opportunities will give students access to and insight into a profession of their choice.  There are several to bid on, and each one is different.  


After the auction, students can enter the free lottery for a mini-internship spot, which will be drawn on June 1st.

CHS Arts Night

CHS Arts Night is happening on May 13th.  Click on the link for more information!

Arts Night is a time for the Capital community to recognize and celebrate the work students have completed in the field of visual arts. Part gallery show; part art sale; many students will have personal works on display, while others will be hosting product booths. Stop by to see what students are saying with their artwork, and take home an original work to keep forever. All sales go directly to the student artist.  Come join us for an evening of celebration.

 

CHS Blood Drive

The CHS Blood Drive is May 15th. Sign up in the commons during lunch or at the ASB Office. If this is your first time to donate you must be at least 16 and have filled out the parent/guardian permission form (under 18 years of age). Return this permission form to ASB or bring it with you the day you donate blood.


Don't forget to eat and hydrate before donating. Photo ID is required. Questions regarding eligibility.

 

News from the CCRC

 

ALL STUDENTS

High School and Beyond Plan

  • Each grade level will be required to complete tasks yearly to maintain a record of research and planning for life after high school. Tasks are assigned to students via SchooLinks, and lessons are taught during High School & Beyond Plan lessons during English classes.
  • The High School and Beyond Plan is a Washington State Graduation Requirement, and CANNOT be waived. 
  • If a student fails to complete their HSBP requirement, they will not graduate.

SENIORS

  • May 8th-Deadline to put Scholarships in the Graduation Program. Please send your AWARD letter to Mrs. Smith's email [email protected] if you want them in the program.
  • May 12th and 14th - SENIOR EXIT INTERVIEWS-these were scheduled with Mrs. Smith in the CCRC. If you do not remember your time or have not scheduled your interview, you need to do that today! The Senior Exit Interview is part of your graduation requirements.
  • Senior Exit Interviews are the final step of a student’s High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP). During these 10 minutes, student-led interviews, students will answer three guiding questions: (1) Who Are You? (2) What Can You Become? (3) How Will You Become That?

To prepare, you can:

  • Complete all SCHOOLINKS Tasks
  • Have your resume ready
  • Review the rubric
  • Prepare an outfit
  • Practice what you’ll say!

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

  • CHS Scholarship Webpage: The CCRC website lists several scholarship sites. Check it out and apply to more online!
  • OSD Scholarship List 25-26: Updated regularly by Olympia School District
  • The Larson's Family Scholarship is for seniors interested in Political Science or Government work. It is Due on May 6th. Come into the CCRC ASAP to get the information.
  • College/Trade School Scholarships: Believe in Me is due May 15th. Designed for 1st Generation students, including those who have demonstrated grit and determination in overcoming adversity. Students with a 2.75 GPA or GED are eligible. Come get your application from the CCRC.

9th-11th GRADE STUDENTS

It's never too early to talk with college representatives about their institution. Here are some Spring Fairs that you can sign up to attend on your own. PNACAC SPRING COLLEGE FAIRS-Free and open to the public. Pick the city and fair you want to attend and then register for this event. 

 

Senior Prom - May 30th

Senior Prom will be on Saturday, May 30th, from 8 pm-10:30 pm at the Lacey Community Center. This Midnight Masquerade will be a night filled with dancing, photos and fun. Tickets will be available to purchase on Monday, May 11th. They are $30 with ASB and $35 w/o ASB. Students on free and reduced lunch will receive a free ticket from the ASB office. 

 

State Testing on May 12 and 13

Sophomores and Juniors are scheduled to participate in required state testing on Tuesday, May 12, and Thursday, May 14, from 8:55 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Tenth graders will take the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA), and Juniors will take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science. These assessments are an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and for our school to reflect on the strong work happening at Capital every day. Please help support your student in attending on both days.

 

Buses will run on a normal schedule, and regular classes will be held from 11:55 a.m. to 3:25 p.m.  During the testing block, ninth-grade students will have enrichment and study hall opportunities in the Lecture Hall and Library. Seniors will participate in scheduled Senior Exit Interviews during that time.

Capital High School Theatre Proudly Presents Disney’s Frozen

Based on the hit Disney film, Capital Theatre is finding its one and only true love with the smash musical Disney’s FROZEN!


SUMMARY

 

Based on the Disney film, this staged production brings even more music and magic to the story of Princesses Elsa and Anna. When Princess Elsa is crowned queen of Arendelle, she can no longer contain her magical icy powers, sending the entire countryside into eternal winter. In an attempt to save the people, she makes a daring escape into the mountains. Her sister Anna treks off on a quest with intrepid explorer Kristoff, stoic reindeer Sven, and magical snowman Olaf to find her. Come and see this story of redemption, courage, and what it truly means to love, a fantastic time for the entire family!
