CHS Theatre
- CHS’ Third period Improv/Intro class proudly presents:

- Friday, March 24th at 7 p.m.
- Capital High School Lecture Hall and Commons (Please enter through the main CHS entrance)
- Randy the security guard has been murdered and the Dudley Diamond has gone missing. Who could have done this? Search our campus, find the clues, and help us solve this mystery!
- Come join us for this fun, audience interactive, murdery mystery.
- Cost is by recommended donation of $10; this includes show, clue hunt, and dessert. Tickets will be available at the door.
Parents on Deck in School (PODS) - Parents on Deck at School
Capital High School recognizes the importance of parents and guardians and the role they play in a successful educational experience for our students. We would like to invite parent/guardian volunteers – you - to be part of our Parents on Deck at School (PoDS) program.
The goal is to have more adult presence in our hallways to meet, greet and encourage students. The time commitment on your part would be very flexible, but we will focus on the key transition times: school day, lunch times and the end of the day. If you are interested in being a participant in the PoDS program, please submit a volunteer application on the district website. We also ask that you call the school directly and let Suzanne or Val (our trusty office professionals) at 360-596-8000 and let them know you are interested. Once we have established a short list – we will arrange a meeting to discuss the particulars! This is a work in progress. We welcome your ideas and suggestions. CHS Host Families Needed
- Another great opportunity to host Japanese Students!!
- Capital High School is hosting up to forty 9th graders from Japan in May. These students are from Shukutoku Sugamo Jr. High School, a private school in Tokyo.
- Here are additional details.
- From Friday, May 19th (pick up @CHS after school) to Monday, May 22nd
- (Drop off @CHS before school) – We can help transport students from Capital to your house and back if needed.
- Must host 2 students – 2 boys or 2 girls (they may share a room but must have separate beds)
- A stipend of $30/student/night (= $180 for each family)
- Students will be staying and doing some sightseeing in the Seattle area before coming to the Capital. If your family is interested, please email me at [email protected] ASAP!

School Social Worker
Kim Senger is the Olympia School District Social Worker assigned to Capital High School. She can provide students and families with community and school based connections such as mental health referrals and resource navigation. Kim works in collaboration with our school counselors, administration, families/caregivers and community organizations to remove barriers and create equitable opportunities for student success. If families.caregivers or students have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call her or your students counselor.
Sea Mar Community Health Center
In an effort to support student wellbeing and mental health, Olympia School District has a partnership with Sea Mar Community Health Centers to provide mental health services. A Mental Health Therapist with Sea Mar will be onsite at Capital High School to provide ongoing therapy to students who are enrolled in their services. Sea Mar is able to accept clients who have Washington Apple Health plans. If you or your student is interested in hearing more about this service, please direct questions to your school counselor or Kim Senger, School Social Worker, at 360-239-7413 or [email protected].
Counseling Center News
Seniors: If you have not met with your School Counselor for your Graduation/Credit check, please make your appointment immediately.
Juniors: Our current 11th graders have started meeting with their counselor about class selections for next year. They must first complete the registration process (especially Step 6): https://capital.osd.wednet.edu/counseling/2023-24_class_registration
Sophomores: Our current 10th graders should complete the registration process on our website (especially Step 6): https://capital.osd.wednet.edu/counseling/2023-24_class_registration. On March 20th there will then be an email to all current 10th graders and families on how they will set up a one-on-one meeting with their counselor to review/adjust their class selections and answer all their questions.
Freshman: Our current 9th graders should complete the registration process on our website (especially Step 6):

CHSPO Craft Fair
Our CHSPO is sponsoring an upcoming craft fair. Attention Shoppers and Crafters! Mark your calendars for the first Cougar Craft Fair: April 22, 10 AM- 3 PM at CHS. The Cougar Craft Fair is the perfect event to pick up your gifts for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Grads. Click the link to apply for a table. Special pricing is available for students!

★ Last Minute Volunteer Opportunity: Marshall Middle School - Friday March 24th
Friday March 24th Activity Night at Marshall Middle School for Marshall students from 6:30-8:30pm. There will be a DJ, dancing, basketball, karaoke and games. Looking for high school students that wish to volunteer. Also connect with Luke Burns about employment with The City of Olympia Parks, Art and Recreation Summer Youth Programs, which are currently available online Here. Stop in the CCRC for more info.

- Seniors: Have you completed your HSBP Tasks in naviance? If not, you need to!
- The High School and Beyond Plan requirement CANNOT BE WAIVED. You must complete this process, or you will not graduate.

- Grad Night, a longstanding CHS tradition, is an epic, professionally-produced, overnight celebration for graduating Seniors only. Scholarship requests are also available through the website. Save $20 and buy your ticket before March 31st!
