Library News

Attention aspiring authors!  On Tuesday, October 29th students can attend a Zoom visit with two of the most successful young adult and children’s authors of the past decade - Jason Reynolds and Kwame Alexander.  Students can use the QR code on the attached poster to sign up.  The visit will be during 2nd period in the Lecture Hall.  The authors will do a writing activity with the group and talk about how cool their career choice has been.  Email Mrs. Bonds in the library with any questions.  Click HERE for more information.

If your student does not have a touchscreen Chromebook, they can bring their current Chromebook to the library to get a new touchscreen device.  Students have heard this in our morning announcements but we know there are more kiddos out there who have our older, non-touchscreen devices.

Brain Train and Tutoring Information

After school tutoring provided by our CHS paraeducators is available every Wednesday in the library from 2:35-3:25 p.m.

CHS Robotics Update

The Capital Robotics FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams are now in their fall robotics season and preparing for their first competitions being right here at CHS on Saturday, Nov. 2 and Nov. 23, 10:30-3:00.  Come check out the robot action as two of last year's state contenders are competing again this season.  Also, on Saturday, Dec. 14,  is the FTC Robotics interleague competition at OHS and we need adult volunteers to help with judging.  NO!  You don’t have to have any experience, there is training and you can be trained the morning of the competition.  So, if you are interested in helping and judging (it’s not scary at all!) we need you. Contact Robotics Coach Brenda Diettrich at [email protected].

High School and Beyond Plans: Are for all students. SchooLinks is our new High School and Beyond Plan Platform.

For Seniors

Mrs. Smith has been in the Social Sciences classes this past week, giving lessons to your Senior students about how to access SchooLinks. They learned to add Colleges and Careers to their lists and the tasks they need to complete for their High School and Beyond Plan for their Washington State Graduation Requirements. Please feel free to ask your students what they learned and if they missed anything, please remind them they can come get help from the CCRC and ask Mrs. Smith for help.
