8th Grade Parent Information Night
Mark your calendars! April 25th 5:30-7:30 p.m. is our 8th Grade Parent Information night for all incoming 8th graders and their parents, Gain information on graduation requirements, hear about courses being offered, meet instructors, receive a tour, ask questions, etc. Our CHS Link Crew will be providing tours of the building.

Little Women
The Broadway Musical
Based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott, the musical follows the four March sisters as Jo March attempts to write her great novel. Little Women: The Broadway Musical is full of touching moments and light-hearted humor, with family chaos and romance in between.
The show runs for two weekends: May 11, 12, and 13 at 7 pm, and May 18, 19, and 20 at 7 pm at Capital High School’s new Performing Arts Center: 2707 Conger Ave NW, Olympia. Tickets are $8 for students and senior citizens, and $10 for adults, and can be purchased at the door. CHS Little Cougars Volleyball Camp
- The CHS Volleyball program will be having their Little Cougars Volleyball Camp on June 10th 2023, 9am-12:30pm
- This camp is for current 1st-4th graders. Come play some volleyball with us!

- The Olympia/Capital high school and middle school volleyball camps are June 22nd, 23rd, 24th. Registration is now open! Register early as there are limited spaces. This is only open to OSD students at this time.

CHS Soccer Camp
Our girls and boys soccer teams will be hosting a Spring Soccer Camp! This is a 2-day Soccer Camp that will be run by the coaches and players of Capital High School.
- When: Saturday, May 20th and Sunday May 21st
- Grades K-3 Time: 9:30 am -11:30 pm
- Grades 4-6 Time: 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
- Where: Capital High School
- Cost: 60.00
- Please note: If you want your shirt size you need to submit your registration by the 1st of May. Any registrations after that we won't guarantee your shirt size or a shirt.

CHS Manufacturing Program Celebrations
- Josh Kallas and Brodie James Gay won gold and silver in 3-Axis CNC Milling!
- Ernie Ivery has already been offered a job working for Boeing in Renton (after graduation) as an aircraft assembly mechanic on the 737 line!
- Boeing will be traveling to CHS to interview five more students on May 15th (Drew Ronning, David Hooper, Brodie James Gay, Dominik Palka and Kenny Erickson).
- David Hooper has already been offered a summer paid internship this summer at Boeing!

DonorsChoose Yoga Project
Liz House has a project on DonorsChoose to acquire yoga supplies to bring yoga classes to students here at Capital for years to come. Considering the rising rates of anxiety and depression among youth and the proven benefits a mindfulness practice such as yoga has on mental health, she feels compelled to freely donate her time and energy to create the content of the classes, teach, and organize. These classes will be offered for free and whenever possible during the school day. She is a certified yoga teacher with more than 30 years of yoga practice. All she needs is a little help with supplies. Email [email protected] with questions. Donations of any amount are appreciated. Thank you!
NAMI Ending the Silence and Mental Health Resource Fair
Capital High School would like to invite you to a presentation being hosted at Jefferson Middle School Wednesday, April 26th from 5:30pm to 8pm.
- 5:30pm Dinner and Child Care Provided (children grades K-5)
- 6-7pm NAMI Presentation
- 7-8pm Resource Fair with local Mental Health Programs & Providers
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will be providing families with information on:
- Mental Health Warning Signs
- Facts and statistics
- How to talk to your child about Mental Health
- How to Get help for your child
- Personal testimony from a young adult who has lived experience with a mental health condition.
The evening will also include a Mental Health Resource Fair with community mental health agencies to provide information on local resources for families.
- Olympia Education Foundation (OEF) is supporting this event by providing food and child care.

Math Help Available
All students have the opportunity to obtain extra math help during club time which is every other Wednesday. Math help is also available every Wednesday after school. Please contact your student’s math teacher if you have any questions.

School Social Worker
Kim Senger is the Olympia School District Social Worker assigned to Capital High School. She can provide students and families with community and school based connections such as mental health referrals and resource navigation. Kim works in collaboration with our school counselors, administration, families/caregivers and community organizations to remove barriers and create equitable opportunities for student success. If families.caregivers or students have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call her or your students counselor.
Sea Mar Community Health Center
In an effort to support student wellbeing and mental health, Olympia School District has a partnership with Sea Mar Community Health Centers to provide mental health services. A Mental Health Therapist with Sea Mar will be onsite at Capital High School to provide ongoing therapy to students who are enrolled in their services. Sea Mar is able to accept clients who have Washington Apple Health plans. If you or your student is interested in hearing more about this service, please direct questions to your school counselor or Kim Senger, School Social Worker, at 360-239-7413 or [email protected].

ATTENTION: CLASS REGISTRATION FOR 2023-24 SCHOOL YEAR.
All students and families have been sent information on how to do registration for next year. The absolute deadline to choose your classes for next year and review your choices with your school counselor is April 28th at 3pm.
If you have not done so already (Including students interested in beginning/continuing Running Start):
- Complete your course selections in Step 6 of our 2023-34 Class Registration website.
- Once completed, schedule an appointment with your school counselor to review your choices and answer your questions. LINK

Career Center News
American Legion Auxiliary Evergreen Girls State is open for all junior and senior high school girls for 2023. The dates for the 2023 program are June 11 – 17. Click HERE for the application due May 20th.
Summer High School Internship Program designed to be filled by local high school students for the purpose of learning about work in state government and, specifically, at the Washington State Health Care Authority.
- About the internship positions:
- Start date: Thursday, July 6, 2023
- End date: Thursday, August 31, 2023
- Pay rate: $16.25/hour
- Location: Cherry Street Plaza, 628 8th Ave SE, Olympia, WA 98501
- Hours: Flexible schedule of 10-20 hours a week during regular HCA business hours of Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Schedule will be arranged between selected intern and their supervisor(s). Interns will be allowed up to one week’s worth of unpaid leave due to pre-planned vacation or other commitments.

High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP)
Seniors: If you are one of the 24 students who have not completed all of your HSBP Tasks in Naviance, do it now! Come into the CCRC if you want or need help or make an appointment with Ms. Marcy HERE. Most seniors have completed their HSBP Tasks in Naviance. Great Job! We are now planning Senior Exit Interviews, which will be conducted on May 15, 16, 22, and 23. Seniors will be assigned a specific date and time to complete their interview. Seniors who have completed all assigned HSBP tasks should have already received an email from the CCRC about Exit Interviews and can expect more information by the first week in May. If you have not yet completed all of your tasks in Naviance you must know The High School and Beyond Plan requirement CANNOT BE WAIVED. You must complete this process, or you will not graduate. Tasks must be completed prior to Senior Exit Interviews. The CCRC can help you.
Running Start students who successfully complete CCS 101 & 102 and students who earn a Full IB Diploma meet the HSBP requirement and will not be required to participate in Senior Exit Interviews.
CAREER MAP MEETUP: Film and Media
April 26th, during Club Time, the CHS CCRC will be hosting an opportunity for students to learn from local professionals about careers in the film and media industries. Sign up in Naviance, College Visits to attend!
