TECH EALR's
- Scott shared updates about the process and dates for the implementation.
KEN's REPORT ABOUT TECH UPGRADES
- Ken reported about various updates
- Wireless updates at OHS
- Switch was replaced at CHS for routing through downtown at layer 3 of ComCast connection
- Highlighted was OHS moving to a Microsoft Server
- Jeff brought up the frustration with Macs clients and Windows servers in the past
- Much was said about why the move and how it will be supported
- Jeff would like to see it working in other schools before we move forward
- Ken reported that we have received an Apple server to run some services on like a Wiki's, Blogs, Podcasts and / or streaming.
- Ken reported about the wireless authentication updates. People will be prompted to agree to terms before gaining access.
- Ken explained the move to static IP addresses and way from DHCP.
- Discussion about getting the whole district to the MAC address level of security that OHS has established
- We discussed students bringing computers
- We discussed about security and the positive impact of not locking down the security too tight.
- Yearbook server at CHS is locked out at the admin level and we need to look at it closer to come up with a solution for next year.
- Proxy will go away and the firewall will take over authentication.
- New computers will have the new firewall setting
- Mac OSX 10.5 image work
- OHS image is being looked at by district
- CHS is still working on it
- OSD is still saying that the laptops will be reimaged the 1st two weeks after school
- We still need to discuss run 10.5 or 10.4.11
- Jeff reiterated that we need to move to 10.5
- Jeff reinforced that 10.5 is a universal build 10.4.11 is not
- Much time was spent discussing a roll out of 10.5 and when
