Tech Support Update
- Richard and Joe shared that if students cannot login to email them the student name and they will reset it.
State of technology at CHS
- Richard and Joe are fixing each machine to make changes to stabilze the logons and student file access.
- Ken gave us an update to what the main problem is and how we're moving forward.
- The software needed to run the Mac computer clients on a Windows network will be purchased this Summer.
- There is no money left for the purchase this school year.
- Concern was brought forward why this new system wasn't investigated more thoroughly before it was implemented.
- General student accounts logon will be re-established.
- Last year we didn't troubles like this because we didn't have the servers trying to authorize student access.
- Timing was very unfortunate. We have lost weeks of on task activity in some classes.
- Communication issues between the school and district need to be resolved.
- Too much change has caused much frustration with students and staff. Tier one and two teachers are losing confidence in the system.
- By Friday if all issues are not resolved, we will roll back to the system from last year with a local computer accounts.
- Reminder for all staff, call or email helpdesk with questions.
UPDATE
- Ken and the CHS tech staff have started to implement the student accounts on the computers today. This will be the same process we had earlier in the year where students logged on to the computer with the "student" username and password and then logged on to their server account and the Internet.
Action items
- KEN: Establish a communication process to help keep the system breakdown from happening again.
- SCOTT: Will communicate changes with staff at staff meeting
