Network speed update
- Dave Gaston shared the frustration with the network speed
and blocked sites. He explained that it is difficult to teach
or plan when access is blocked or prohibitively slow.
Conference dates and information
- Two exceptional educational technology
conferences are scheduled during the second half of February.
The ITSC (Instructional Technologies Strategies Conference) will be
held in Portland February 17 through the 19th. The NCCE (Northwest
Council for Computer Education) conference will be held in Seattle from
February 26 through 29 at the Washington State Convention Center.

Review district technology initiatives
- Scott shared Read 180 program and success at Olympia HS
- Judy questioned what type of reading it supported
Reviewed tech plan process
- Reviewed plan information
- Individualized planning and training needs to be scheduled for the rest of the year
- Explained the Wiki process so staff can access their own plans and other resources
Document camera review and decision
- The committee decided to endorse the Elmo document
camera
- The functionality of the arm was better
- The based didn't get in the way
- Can be used with microscopes
- Has the media card for picture transfer
- The district has more Elmo's, so there is better support
and a good track record
- The number of camera needed will be tallied and
forwarded to district for order
Action items
- SCOTT: Talk to Nancy about financial support for the
technology conferences
- SCOTT: Share with district technology staff the need for
fast, stable access to the Internet
- SCOTT: Share with district technology staff the need to
keep sites unblocked that we have grown to expect to be unblocked.
