Culminating Project

Beginning with the class of 2008, seniors will be required to successfully complete a Culminating Project. The Culminating Project is a new Washington State graduation requirement. It is designed to give students a chance to demonstrate they have the skills necessary to succeed after high school graduation by creating and completing a self-directed project of their choice. The project will require meaningful research, the creation of a product or event as an outgrowth of that research, the sharing of the project with others, and a reflection on the learning process.

The Culminating Project is intended to be a self-selected project that demonstrates student competency in selecting, planning, researching and presenting an independent project. Students are highly encouraged to select and complete a project that has a high degree of personal interest.

All students will be assigned a faculty supervisor and will meet regularly with that faculty supervisor during the 2007-2008 school year to check progress, turn in paperwork, seek advice and have their project evaluated.

Parent and community volunteers will be needed during student presentations in March and April of 2008. Please check this website periodically as more information about this opportunity becomes available.
