The meeting was called to order at 5:36 pm by Co-Chairperson Paddy
O'Brien.

Principal's Report:
On Teri Poff's behalf, Monica West, Dean of Students, presented the
principal's report. Monica reported that the staff and students are being
challenged by some very narrow hallways due to the current construction.
Despite this challenge, students are handling the inconvenience with
respect and patience.
Monday, March 20, 2006, was the beginning of a new trimester.
Additionally, it was Advisory Day. Monica reported, and Barb Day echoed,
that in the future they would not schedule Advisory Day on the first day
of a trimester, as the combination of the two created too much extra
activity for one day!
OSPI showed up during WASL testing for a surprise audit. They observed
6-8 classrooms. They gave two recommendations:
1. Make sure windows into the pods are clear.
2. Post a sign "Media Alert-DO NOT DISTURB"
Overall, Monica was very pleased with the audit and Capital's WASL Testing
practices.
Listening Post Synthesis
The council embarked upon the task of discussing and identifying the key
messages received from the Listening Post Forum held March 2, 2006 at
Capital High School. The first topic for discussion was "Communication
between Families and School". The remainder of the meeting was spent
discussing this topic. The council realized they would need an additional
meeting to finish discussing the remaining topics. March 20, at 2:45 pm
in the CHS library was chosen to finish discussing key messages of the
remaining topic.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
