VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The FUN stuff (social, creative, spirited, appreciated) :

For the Palapalooza, March 3 Set up is at 1 p.m. Event is 6 to 9 p.m.

For the Father/Daughter Dances. Work parties on March 6 and 7 at 3

p.m. and March 21 and 22 at 3 p.m. Also, photo helpers, decorating

and clean up help is needed at the events themselves (March 10 and 24).

The CARING stuff

Assistance is needed in the library on Fridays from 11 to 12:45.

PROGRAMS FOR YOUR CALENDAR

Rachel's challenge. Thursday, Feb. 25, 7 p.m. School Gym. Your kid

will see this program during the school day. The evening program is

your chance to learn how to make our community a stronger, kinder

place. This is a powerful program. Our speaker is a gentleman who was

a Columbine student on the day of the terrible school shootings and he

shares insights on what will help a school be a better community.

Don't miss this one.


Anger Management. Wednesday, Feb. 7th. Professional counselor Teri

Weaver will lead us to some tools to help teens and parents keep their

cool.


Listening Post Forum. February 15th. 6:30 p.m. An evening dedicated

to learning what you think about Capital High School. What's working?

What needs improving? Bring your opinions (Don't leave home without

them!)


Coming in April: Victoria Tenet, expert on brain development will

speak on April 26th.


The official stuff:


The CHSPO meeting was opened by Debby Pattin at 7:06 p.m.

Introductions followed. Present were Debby Pattin, Carol Riley, Susan

Lindskog, Vada Alderidge, Ellen Rice, Peggy Martinez, Bette Hall, Janna

Sharp,

Mary Gross, Megan Hubbard, Brenna English, Teri Poff, Tammy Corning,

Linda Sulenes, Paddy O' Brien, and Susan Kirkpatrick.


The financial report was presented. Cash balance is $16,720.54.

Recent fall grants totaled $7,036. One correction was noted by Carol

Riley. "YTD Budget" should read "YTD Actual Expenses"


There are several Parent Education Opportunities (see details above)


There are several volunteer needs (see details above). The efforts of

the CHS horticulture instructor, Kathleen Watts, and of Chris Cody are

deeply appreciated as committees prepare for fundraising dances.


Class reports

Seniors - Carol Riley announced a Feb. 6 meeting for parents to plan

graduation events. Parents from the junior class would be very helpful

as volunteers on the evening of graduation.


Juniors -- Bette Hall said that planning for the Class of 2008

graduation has begun.


Sophomores -- Susan Lindskog said that she is collecting ideas.


Freshmen -- Susan Kirkpatrick is also collecting ideas. Additional

parent volunteers would be welcome.


Newsletter -- was mailed yesterday. The next one is in March.


The meeting concluded at 8: 06 p.m. and was followed by a report from

Teri Poff on her Fulbright exchange trip to Germany. It was

fascinating to hear about the educational challenges in that country.
